The Series

Nobody should have to choose between finishing treatment and being able to eat, speak, or swallow.

Through Treatment, Together is a documentary series about the impact mouth sores can have during chemotherapy — told by the people who have lived it and the clinicians who care for them.

What oral mucositis is

Oral mucositis is a common side effect of many chemotherapy treatments that causes painful mouth sores. These sores can make it difficult to eat, drink, swallow, or speak and may disrupt cancer treatment.

What the Chemo Mouthpiece does

The Chemo Mouthpiece is an FDA-cleared prescription oral cooling device designed to reduce the incidence and severity of chemotherapy induced oral mucositis in adult patients.

Why these stories

Behind every diagnosis is a personal experience. These films let patients share their experiences with oral mucositis during cancer treatment, in their own words.

Nobody should have to go through this alone.

How it Works

Using cryotherapy to help protect the mouth during chemotherapy.

The Chemo Mouthpiece cools the inside of the mouth to help reduce the incidence and severity of oral mucositis from chemotherapy.

Before

Stored in the freezer

The device is kept at home in the freezer before and after use, so it is cold and ready for each treatment.

During

Used during infusion

The mouthpiece cools the inside of the mouth throughout chemotherapy infusion.

After

Continued use at home

Patients continue using the mouthpiece at home because chemotherapy continues circulating in the body even after they leave the infusion chair.

Clinical results

Clinically proven to reduce the incidence and severity of oral mucositis

From a randomized, multi-site clinical trial of 164 adults receiving chemotherapy, published in Supportive Care in Cancer.
